Penerjemahan sangat mutlak diperlukan dalam era informasi dan komunikasi yang bergerak cepat seperti saat ini. Proses penerjemahan dan hasil-hasilnya dapat dilihat tersebar dalam segala bidang, mulai dari bidang pendidikan sampai hiburan. Buku, film dan berbagai media pembawa informasi lainnya yang dibuat tidak dalam bahasa asli memerlukan suatu proses penerjemahan. Penerjemahan sendiri merupakan suatu proses penyampaian informasi dari bahasa sumber ke dalam padanan yang sesuai pada bahasa sasaran.
